Balkan Ruby 2026 CFP

Balkan Ruby has been a small and independent event since 2018. We've seen some shit: had to cancel an event in 2020 (COVID), survived a five-year hiatus (also COVID), got to get back to business in 2024, talked about the long term in 2025 and as we get older and grumpier, we're full of hot takes about tech and live. So what's your hot technical take? Are latest Ruby features bloat? Are we solving the right problems with them or are you fine with endless methods, ractors (you don't use), async fibers (you also don't use), Ruby::Box-es, abcd-yzJITS and what have you? But that's small, how about: You DO need people to write hand-crafted code. Who'd thought this will be a HOT take in the year of our lord 2025? Here's another one – PHP is just fine. The Rails default stack is enough. C is still the best low-level language ever made and Fil-C is better than Rust. Using "SOLID" or "design patterns" is a fireable offence. You are in the tech business, not a f*cking oracle so solve for what the business needs and don't over-engineer. Oh, and RSpec IS better than minitest. .
